Title: Career in HKSARG – from a story of the “6” Recycling Stores

Abstract:

Since late 2020, the government has put into operation a network of 30+ Recycling Stores (commonly known as 6仔店) across the territory. Well-beyond the government’s expectation, the R Stores attracts over 3,000,000 patrons from all walk of life in 2021. It has also won a number of regional design awards, and positive feedbacks from a lot of social media platforms.

CF Wong, a Hornell Hall Alumni, was responsible for the setting up of the 6仔店  network. He will start with a story of the new government service, and proceed with a sharing about his career in the HKSARG. He will talk about his participation in various stages of public policy formulation, implementation and enforcement. He will touch on challenges and satisfactions in engineering project management, application of sciences, communication with the public, etc. He will also share his personal views on considerations for a career in the public sector.

Mr. C.F. WONG, Assistant Director, Environmental Protection Department, HKSAR Government

 

CF is currently an assistant director of Environmental Protection Department and head of its Environmental Compliance Division. The division has about 800 staff from different professional and technical disciplines, and is responsible for enforcement of environmental laws in Hong Kong. In his 30 years of services in EPD, he participated in waste and water policy, climate change policy, noise control policy, environmental planning, international collaboration, environmental facilities management, law enforcement, etc.
