Professor Chack Fan Lee is the Chair Professor of Geotechnical Engineering and the previous Director of the School of Professional and Continuing Education, The University of Hong Kong (HKUSPACE). He is also an Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering.

 

Professor Lee is an internationally renowned expert in geotechnical engineering. He worked for Ontario Hydro in Canada for some 20 years on a variety of projects that included water resources management, hydropower and nuclear power. He joined the University of Hong Kong in 1994 as a professor of the Department of Civil Engineering and served as a pro-vice-chancellor between 2000 and 2008.

 

Professor Lee is also the President of the Fuhui Charitable Foundation; the Chairman of the Board of the Hong Kong Institute for Promotion of Chinese Culture and the Jao Tsung-I Academy Management Board; the Director of the Jao Tsung-I Petite Ecole; member of the Board of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority and the Commission on Strategic Development; etc.

 

In recognition of his acheivements, Professor Lee was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star (GBS) and the Silver Bauhinia Star (SBS) by the Hong Kong goverment and was also given the distinction of Justice of the Peace.

 

Professor Lee is currently the Chancellor of Chu Hai College of Higher Education
